Brief Intro of Leading Products and Services (Julius)

Digital payments is an industry that is growing each and everyday.  Products and services in this industry are taking over what we thought of as normal.  Before today, I never thought I would be able to pay my rent online instead of turning a check into a land lord... In today's society we are able to do any sort of transaction digitally never having to see the cash that is being transferred.  PayPal is one of the leading websites in collecting money for purchases.  Luke II Pay Station is multi-space parking pay system that collects money without every having to hand a person money.  The Inuit GoPayment is a product that allows individuals to collect payments with the use of an iPhone.  Credit card technology has come out with innovations like the Master Card Master Pass so you can pay for products with your phone, tablet, or computer.  Technologies like these and others are putting digital payments into a primary front runner for innovations that have surpassed previous standards for payment options around the world.

  1. I will say, digital payments have made life and collecting money a breeze. On the down side, there is much less human interaction and collecting payments anywhere can seem cold. A friend of mine was invited to wakeboard and go to dinner on a boat one weekend. They had a great time but at the end of the night, the owner of the boat requested payment for gas and boat use via Square.

    1. We see that as happening with all types of advancements in tech not just digital payments. As we can see though digital payments are everywhere.

  2. I am happy about how technology has evolved since I was a child. It's actually pretty cool. And I definitely love that I can accept payments or pay others, anyway, anyhow. It's so bad that it has become one of my requirements for doing business...if you don't make it easy for me to make a payment, I don't make a payment (unless, of course you are my utility company or something). However, the only thing I feared when the GoPayments came out, was that those people standing in the parking lot hustling, was going to have access to that same technology and "I don't carry cash" will no longer be a good excuse. I was right! Ugh! Now, when someone wants me to buy their CD or their book from a parking lot, I can't say I don't carry cash because they pull out that stupid Intuit thingy! What do I say now without hurting their feelings?

  3. I have to agree with Reese, making payments online have sure made life a lot easier. No more waiting in lines, no more getting your check in on time, one click of the button and your done. It sure has made paying bills less stressful, except for the loss of money. However, there is a downside to online payments or going paperless. I work for the US postal service and we have seen a huge impact to our revenue because of this service. In the last few years, the postal service has lost billions of dollars and potential customers that will, in all actuality, never be seen again. For good or worse, technology opens doors, but at the same time shuts others.

  4. Digital payments have allowed for such an ease of paying bills, buying concert tickets, or online shopping. I remember when all payments were made either via cash or check and I do not miss those days. I love being able to punch in my credit card number and not worry about the fuss of mailing in a check or cash. Personally, I believe digital payments has improved the way we do business.
